The famous San Fermin festival also known by the name the running of the bulls is celebrated every year in Pamplona city of Spain from the 6th to the 14th of July. Locals of this city is celebrating this festival as a tradition for centuries. The inauguration of this festival is done in a very unique way. A rocket is launched from the city’s town hall to mark the official start of the festival. During the festival week, Pamplona is overly crowded with around million plus visitors from all over the world. It takes place every day of the festival at 8 am. The main basic rule of the festival is that the runners are chased by 6 bulls behind them throughout the streets of Pamplona town till the city’s bullring which is approximately 850 meters. Origin of San Fermin-

San Fermin festival taking place in Pamplona since before the 12th century originally it was celebrated on the 10th of October but due to weather inconveniences now the official date is shifted to July by the government of Pamplona. All fairs and activities are scheduled accordingly.

There’s a real story behind the popularity of bull activities in this famous festival. In 1923 Ernest Hemingway visited Pamplona first time during this festival, and he was so fascinated by bullfighting that he wrote the famous book on this activity “The sun also rises”. This made the festival famous around the world wide. He also made some very good friends in Pamplona city, he was so fond of this festival that he used to help the participants get dressed before entering the ring. Though it was never assumed that his book will change Pamplona city forever.
