SPAIN – TOURIST VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Spain is a beautiful country situated in Europe. It is fast developing as a popular tourist destination due to its rich culture and diverse territory.It is also part of the Schengen area that does not require a visa for travel within the twenty six countries covered under its agreement for a period of ninety days and this relaxation is available whether the travel is for business or pleasure.But if the proposed visit is to extend beyond a period of ninety days, all such travel requires a visa.

Method 1: Conditions to be satisfied to apply for a visa to Spain.

  1. A person can apply for a visa to Spain from the United Kingdom only if he is a resident in that country for a period of ninety days or more.
  2. If he is not a resident of the United Kingdom, he may apply for a visa to Spain from the country in which he is a resident.
  3. There is a Consulate of Spain and a person needs to apply there to get his visa.
  4. Check if Passport is in order. The person who desires to travel should hold a valid passport and it should be ensured that it remains valid for the next six months from date of travel.
  5. Apply for a visa. The visa application should be well before date of travel so as to avoid last minute hassles.

Method 3: Documentation.

  1. Ensure that all documentation related to travel like detailed itineraries, visa application forms, proof of booking (a visa to Spain may be obtained only if there is proof of booking a ticket to and fro from it), proof of accommodation (for example, a reservation in a hotel or inn) is in order.
  2. Travel and Health Insurance Policy is also required to be annexed to the application for visa in such a way that the policy covers full medical care and also a cover for thirty thousand Euros.

Method 4: Apply for visa.

  1. Schengen visa application form from the Consulate of Spain nearest to the person desirous of travel should be obtained and filled. Apart from the basic details like name, address etc., other details regarding employment or financial status may be asked for.
  2. Two passport sized photographs is to be attached to the application form.
  3. Supporting documentation for almost all the fields in the application form is also required to be submitted along with the application form and the exact documents needed are listed on the website.
  4. There is also the option of applying for a visa to Spain online.
  5. The visashould also be accompanied with the non-refundable visa feesmade in the proper mode.
  6. If the visa is for a period extending ninety days, application in person is to be made along with the adequate documentation.

Method 5: The waiting period.

  1. The general time period within which a person may expect his visa application to be granted is three to four weeks.
